LAMDA Exams Anthologies Update

30 April 2024

Following the release of our new Acting Anthology Volume 5 and Verse and Prose Anthology Volume 20, we have diligently taken into account and assessed the feedback we have received.

During our consultation phase, it became apparent that there was a need for more diverse and accessible pieces that resonate with our global community. We recognised the importance of offering materials that better reflect the diversity of learners undertaking LAMDA Exams both in the UK and internationally. Additionally, we noted a scarcity of content tailored to the older learner.

Whilst we believe we have addressed these issues and are delighted to have launched a forward-looking ambitious anthology which is representative of the wonderful global community of LAMDA learners, we have also taken on board the feedback that we may have missed some of the more fun and accessible pieces for younger learners. As such we will circulate a supplementary reading list to provide further options for younger learners, which will include all pieces in LAMDA Acting Anthology Volume 4 and LAMDA Verse and Prose Anthology Volume 19.

To confirm, you can teach all the pieces in the new Acting Anthology Volume 5 and previous Volume 4, and all the pieces in the new Verse and Prose Anthology Volume 20 and Volume 19 for first assessment from August 2024.

Regrettably, we recently became aware that one of the pieces in the Acting Anthology Volume 5 contained a stage direction referencing material external to the anthology, which we deem unsuitable for young individuals. Despite our stringent content selection process, which includes consultation and expert panel review, this oversight occurred.

Consequently, we decided to temporarily pause sales of the Acting Anthology Volume 5 until we can arrange for a content warning to be dispatched with the publication. The Acting Anthology Volume 5 will be available for purchase again as soon as this change has been made.

LAMDA recommends that Teachers should use their discretion when choosing pieces to ensure their selection is appropriate to their individual learner. If this piece is selected, the radio edit of the version of the song should be selected.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding during this period.

We take your feedback seriously and value your input and the incredible teaching community of LAMDA Exams. We want to ensure we have a customer-centric approach, ensuring that teachers and learners remain at the heart of our approach. Our goal is to provide young people with access to the rich world of speech and drama, empowering them to become confident communicators while fostering a passion for acting and nurturing essential life skills. Moreover, we are dedicated to supporting the exceptional teaching community as they continue to inspire and uplift young people worldwide.
