Our Level 3 Shakespeare qualification gets UCAS points

23 July 2019

We are delighted to announce that our Shakespeare Level 3 examinations are now eligible for UCAS points, providing another route for learners to gain points from their LAMDA Exams.

We hope that this encourages learners to delve into Shakespeare’s works, whilst giving them a great opportunity to include their experience for application into further and higher education institutes.

Linda Macrow, our Chief Examiner said: “We are thrilled that students taking our LAMDA Examinations will now receive UCAS points. Our Level 3 examinations are designed to challenge and inspire students and to receive UCAS points will be a further achievement.”

The points awarded will be:

  • Distinction: 12 Points
  • Merit: 8 Points
  • Pass: 4 Points

Those studying for the Shakespeare Level 3 Examinations will be able to develop a wide range of skills in performing Shakespeare texts. Learners will have to perform from memory two own choice scenes, each from a different play by Shakespeare as well as one of his sonnets.. Learners will integrate their knowledge and skills to demonstrate a mature understanding of the text and the language, whilst taking ownership and demonstrating a personal interpretation of the text.

Other LAMDA exams currently available for UCAS points are: Grades 6, 7, & 8 for Performing (Acting, Devising Drama, Mime), Communications (Speaking Verse & Prose, Reading for Performance, Speaking in Public), Musical Theatre and PCertLAM.
