LAMDA is for everyone

What we do

We are committed to providing equal opportunity in recruitment, training and development.

Through our widening access work we engage with schools, colleges and youth organisations across London and the UK.

Targeted outreach programmes and activities allow us to connect with people and communities who are underrepresented in higher education and the arts. We provide access to activity and training in Acting and Production & Technical Arts and practical support for those wishing to access our courses.

In order to fully support our students, our widening access and participation work continues within and beyond entry to LAMDA across the whole student life-cycle.

We work with young people up to the age of 25 who may not have the opportunity to experience LAMDA’s style of conservatoire training, or to consider the creative skills industry as a career choice; engaging them in workshops, visits and events designed to raise aspiration and build routes into training and employment in the creative industries.

We have built longstanding and inspiring partnerships with schools and organisations who work with our target groups which include:

People from low income backgrounds and areas where participation in higher education is low.

  • People who are black, Asian and minority ethnic
  • D/deaf and disabled people
  • People who are the first person in their family to participate in higher education
  • Care leavers
  • People who are not in education, employment or training

Clearing the path to LAMDA training

Our Pathways Programme is an engagement and skills development programme which removes barriers that prevent hard-to-reach young people from accessing performing arts training.

Funded tickets

Throughout the year, we offer free tickets to our productions for LAMDA Pathways partner schools and youth arts groups. Contact [email protected] for more information.

LAMDA Foundation Diploma Bursary

Each year, we award a minimum of two fully-funded bursary places on the (non-HE credited) Foundation Diploma in Acting. This helps us to encourage and support students from low income backgrounds to access either our BA (Hons) Professional Acting at LAMDA or a comparable course at another Higher Education Institution.

One of the bursaries is awarded to an individual who has made their own way to and through the audition process. The second bursary is awarded to a young person who has come through LAMDA’s Pathways programme. In 2017-18, two bursary recipients completed the course successfully with one progressing to the BA (Hons) Professional Acting at LAMDA.

Financial help with audition fees

We currently offer a number of fee waivers for auditions and interviews through our Pathways programme.
